Wood For Wolves

February 23rd, 2012

Thank you to everyone who is participating in this year’s charity event! We are hoping this time around we can hit a mark of $5000 to help out WOLF Sanctuary.  WOLF is a Colorado based wolf and wolf-dog rescue. Their resources and accommodations are limited and they are in need of any and all help.
With the overwhelming response to last year’s Decks for Dogs, and the previous Pins for Pups, the auctions were a slamming success. This year’s medium will be wood based pieces with a wilderness theme that encompasses the wolf experience.
Providing interested individuals with an extensive look at WOLF operations, its beliefs and day-to-day challenges and successes.
We foster a better understanding of wolves and wolf-dogs, so that responsible beliefs and behaviors will lower the number of animals (free-ranging or captive) suffering at the hands of humans.
WOLF  believes that the current popularity of these animals as pets can only be stemmed through education. Wolf believes a nonjudgmental, fact-based approach to that education is the most effective means to raise the understanding of would-be owners. Additionally, the significance of a personal experience, connecting with the soul of these spirits through their eyes, will leave an indelible understanding of their value in nature. Balance is the key in WOLF’s approach to education. Wolf respects the needs of each animal’s personality and temperament, while striving to provide a significant human learning experience. If there are any potential conflicts in this balance, we choose to exaggerate on behalf of the animal’s needs.
Wolf structures its programs to focus on wolves in captivity, based on the experiences of the Sanctuary. What information is given on wolves in the wild is basic, and is meant only to give a basis for comparison. WOLF volunteers do not profess to be experts in wolf biology, and do not take a formal position on reintroduction.”

WOLF is a non-profit animal rescue that relies on outside support to keep it running. They foster wolf-dogs that are in desperate need of a better life, away from persecution and protected from owners who don’t have a full understanding of the mentality of their animal. Their goal is to educate people about the considerable responsibilities that come with owning a wolf-dog, as well as educating the general public about wolf behaviors.
Donations, whether it be for auction, raffle, or financial, are greatly appreciated. Last year, vendors who set up at our shop donated 10%-15% of their sales from that night. Those who participate in our fundraiser this year will have their logo placed on all fliers, posters, and ads. You are all welcome to set up a booth at our shop on the night of the event. Any donations are tax deductible and you will get a receipt. Confirmation deadline is June 1st.
Our event will take place on July 6th, 2011 from 3pm to 10pm. This coincides with first Friday, ensuring high foot traffic. We will start the auction at $50 per piece. The auction will also run from 3pm to 10pm. There will be a vendor’s galley and live music.

Decks for Dogs-July 2nd 2011

November 4th, 2011
This past July our salon hosted a fundraiser for Mariah’s Promise with the help of our staff, friends, and local artist. Special thanks to Joe and Josie with Sailor Jerry Rum and helping sponsor the event. Bark! Dog Daycare, Zen Dog Boutique, Pink Poodle Gourmet, Azucar Bakery, The Bon Bon Buggy, Cream City Treats, SCSK8, and La Muerte. Our pants got rocked off by The Bloody FivesJonesy’s Eat Bar was able to cook up some delicious barbeque. Of course our staff worked hard for months in their free time getting the event organized. We could never have done it without the artist and the support of the community. This post is late BUT it is just a reminder that good deeds go a long way, we are appreciative and never forget our furry friends that are in need.

Once again, Mariah’s Promise is a non-profit animal rescue that relies on outside support to keep it running. They help to house, rehabilitate, and adopt out dogs in need. Recent;y they have come into some legal issues regarding the pit bulls that they house and adopt out. This has cascaded out of control, and they are in desperate need of any and all help.

Our neighbors Jesse and Peter at Smoke Glass Art 738 Santa Fe host a “Pit Bull Art show” during the First Friday art walk and huge supporters of Mariah’s Promise.
Check them out during the artwalk and visit our shop, Luxe de Vil Salon at 657 Santa Fe Dr.
( We are missing a photo of Chad Latta (Buddha) It was claimed before we photographed it )
